Many of us have heard about the horrible and unjust conditions that migrant detainees are subject to in the United Kingdom, which led to many people detained in Yarl’s Wood taking part in a hunger strike these past weeks.
We believe that everyone outside of these centers has a responsibility to make sure these stories are heard and this injustice is stopped.
That’s why we are calling for people across the UK to join a 24 hour fast, starting the 8th March, International Women’s Day, at 7am. This mass #hungerforfreedom support action seeks to amplify the demands of people at Yarl’s Wood. We encourage you to share publicly that you are joining the mass action and spread the word. Invite your friends and also e-mail your MP. We want the Home Office to know that immigration detention is gender and institutional violence, and we will bring it to an end.
